The York Rite, also called the "American Rite," is one of the two areas a Master Mason may select after completing the three degrees of Blue Lodge Masonry, which are:
The York Rite is similar to the Scottish Rite in that it provides an opportunity to explore the lessons taught in Blue Lodge Masonry; however, there are fewer York Rite degrees and they're not numbered as they are in the Scottish Rite. Members of York Rite Masonry meet more frequently than other Rites, allowing closer bonds of brotherhood and friendship to develop. The Rite seeks to help members realize the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man in their lives. |
